This article covers how to use datasets for conversion measurement in Ads Manager.

A dataset allows you to accurately measure conversions in Ads Manager by combining and deduplicating data from both the Spotify Pixel and the Spotify Conversions API. Using a dataset ensures that conversions tracked by both sources are counted only once, giving you a more complete and reliable view of campaign performance.

When to Create a Dataset

Datasets should be created when you first onboard into Spotify Ad Manager’s Events section. Datasets allow you to combine your Spotify Pixel and Conversion API integration events.

You can also create a dataset if you already have an existing Conversion API integration or Pixel installed.

For example:

If you’ve already installed the Spotify Pixel and are now configuring the Conversions API, Ads Manager will guide you to create a new dataset that includes both.

Creating a dataset connects your data sources and allows Ads Manager to reconcile overlapping signals across platforms.

Why Datasets Are Recommended

While creating a dataset isn’t required, it’s strongly recommended if you plan to use both the Spotify Pixel and the Conversions API for conversion measurement. This setup enables more comprehensive tracking, reduces duplication, and improves attribution accuracy — helping you make better-informed optimization decisions.

How to Use Datasets in Campaign Setup

When setting up your campaign in Ads Manager:

  1. Navigate to the Conversion Measurement dropdown.
  2. Select the dataset that includes both your Spotify Pixel and Conversions API sources.

This ensures Ads Manager uses deduplicated data for conversion reporting and optimization.

Should You Use a Dataset?

If you’re unsure whether you need a dataset, consider your measurement goals.

  • Use a dataset if you’re leveraging both web-based and server-to-server conversion tracking.
  • Skip it if you’re only using one data source for now, but keep in mind you can add a dataset later as your measurement strategy evolves.
