Once you create your Spotify Pixel, you’ll need to install the appropriate event code on your website before Spotify can begin receiving website activity.

Install your event code

You can install the Spotify Pixel directly on your website or through supported third-party tools, such as Google Tag Manager.

The Page View event is required when using the Spotify Pixel. All other conversion events are optional and should be installed based on the actions you want to measure.

To start, install the Page View event across the pages of your website where you want Spotify to receive page-view activity.

For additional conversion events, install the corresponding event code where that action occurs. For example:

  • Install View Product on pages where people view product details.

  • Install Add to Cart when an item is added to a shopping cart.

  • Install Purchase when a purchase is successfully completed.

  • Install Lead or Sign Up when the corresponding form or action is successfully completed.

Depending on how your website is configured, an event may be triggered when someone selects a button or when they reach a confirmation page.

Each event code snippet includes the code required to send that event to Spotify. If you select event parameters during setup, replace any highlighted placeholder values in the generated code with the corresponding values from your website before installation.

If you're working with a developer, you can use the Copy link option in Spotify Ads Manager to share the setup instructions, selected events, parameters, and code with them.

Note: While Spotify supports installation through some third-party tools, Spotify is unable to troubleshoot third-party implementations.

Verify that your Pixel is working

After your Pixel is installed, Spotify Ads Manager will show whether event activity is being received from your website.

It may take up to 20 minutes after installation for event activity to appear.

To verify your installation:

  1. Go to Events in Spotify Ads Manager.

  2. Select the dataset you want to review.

  3. Review the Event activity graph to confirm that Spotify is receiving website activity.

  4. Review the event table to confirm that the expected event types are being received and check when each event was last received. You can use the date filter to switch between the last 14 days and last 24 hours for a more granular view of recent event activity.

  5. To review activity for a specific event, select the event name in the event table to open a more detailed view of that event.

  6. Compare the event activity shown in Spotify Ads Manager with your own website analytics to make sure the volume of activity is generally consistent with what you expect.

For example, if your website typically receives 10,000 page views per day but Spotify Ads Manager is receiving approximately 5,000, the Page View event may not be installed across all intended pages.

Note: Event activity shows the total activity Spotify receives from your website. It does not represent only conversions attributed to Spotify advertising. To review attributed conversions, view your campaign reporting in Spotify Ads Manager.

Spotify Ads Manager can confirm that event data is being received, but it cannot determine whether your website implementation is sending the correct events or values. We recommend comparing the activity Spotify receives with your own website analytics after installation.
