Set up your app in Ads Manager
Advertisers can leverage Spotify’s partnerships with Adjust, AppsFlyer, Kochava, and Singular to measure installs attributed to an Ads Manager campaign. Apps are created on the Business Account level and can be shared across any Ad Accounts that fall under the Business Account. In addition to following the steps below to add your app to Ads Manager, please ensure that Spotify’s integration has been enabled in your MMP dashboard.
Note that we also support Apple’s SKAdNetwork (SKAN), which enables you to measure the impact of your iOS campaigns, even if a user has opted out of tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Please follow the steps below to add your app to Ads Manager. Please note that you will need admin access to the Business Account to set up an app.
-
Start by logging into Ads Manager. Click the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner and select Apps. Then click Add.
-
Next, input your app name in the Name field. For iOS apps, add your App Store URL in the iOS field. For Android apps, enter the Google Play Store URL in the Android URL field.
-
Ensure the correct MMP is selected from the Mobile Measurement Partner drop-down.
- Note: Adjust clients will need to enable Spotify’s integration in the Adjust dashboard and create an Adjust link before creating their app in Ads Manager. The Link token field is only required for Adjust clients
-
If you are setting an iOS app that is configured to measure opted-out installs via Apple’s SKAdNetwork, check the box next to “Apple’s SKAdNetwork” at the bottom of the Add App page.
-
Click “Add” to add your app to Ads Manager.
-
Your app will now appear in the Apps page. You will be able to see an overview of your app settings and the number of active ad sets measuring install attribution for a given app.
-
Click on an app to view or edit your app details. Your Spotify App ID is available at the top of the app details page. You will need your Spotify App ID later on when setting up Spotify’s integration in your AppsFlyer or Kochava dashboard. Spotify App ID is not required for Adjust or Branch setup.
-
Click the “Ad Accounts” tab and click Share to share your app with the desired Ad Account(s). After clicking Save, the selected Ad Accounts will see the app listed on their Apps page.
-
Once you have shared the app with your desired Ad Account(s), the Ad Accounts with access to the app will be listed in the Ad accounts tab.
-

Create an App Installs Objective campaign
Once you’ve added your app to Ads Manager and have configured the Spotify integration within your MMP account, it’s easy to create an app install campaign. Below is a guide to activating mobile measurement when booking your campaign.
Create a campaign
-
Start by creating an App Installs Objective campaign in Ads Manager and following the booking prompts until you reach Conversion measurement on the Create new ad set page. Select your app from the Conversion Measurement dropdown.
-
If you are advertising an iOS app and you are using Apple’s SKAdNetwork, toggle on “Turn on SKAdNetwork measurement” to measure app installs from devices using iOS 14.5 or later.
-
Note: you can only target one OS per ad set with the app installs objective. If you would like to track conversions for both iOS and Android, you will need to create two separate ad sets.
-
-
Continue the prompts in the booking flow.
-
IMPORTANT: When entering a click-through URL for your app install campaign in Ads Manager, please ONLY use the standard App Store or Play Store link without macros or UTM parameters. Examples: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music.
-
Apply your MMP impression and click tracking links in the Third-party measurement field. All supported macros should already be included in the MMP tracking link templates. Impression and click trackers are required to measure install conversions.
-
Tracking link format varies by MMP, but all tracking links should include at least %%DEVICE_ID%% and %%CAMPAIGN_ID%% macros. Each MMP has a macro template for Spotify that should automatically append the appropriate macros to your tracking links.

To access conversion data within Reports, click the menu icon in the top left corner of your dashboard and select Reports. From here, you will have the ability to create a report and enable “App measurement” within the metrics selection:
If you have configured other events to track against your Spotify campaign within your MMP, such as post-install conversion events, reporting metrics for these events will only be accessible via the MMP dashboard.
