Overview
Ad Sets with Multiple Formats let you enable Audio, Video, and Display ads within a single ad set. This is only available for the Maximum Bid strategy.
When creating an ad, you'll choose the format before entering your creative details. All ads within the same ad set share the settings configured at the ad set level, including: budget, targeting, bid strategy, schedule, and other ad set settings.
Spotify automatically allocates your ad set budget across the available formats. Multiple formats under one budget gives Spotify more flexibility to support your chosen objective.
If you use Automated Bid or Goal-Based Bidding, each ad set can include only one ad format. You'll still select the format during ad creation.
How budget allocation works
A centralized ad set budget across formats allows the delivery model to dynamically allocate spend across formats toward available, relevant inventory. Because optimization is driven by real-time auction dynamics and inventory availability, spend may not be distributed evenly across formats.
How bidding works
Spotify dynamically adjusts bids for each auction while staying within the bid cap you specify.
The recommended bid cap range is designed to help your ads remain competitive across all selected formats. Spotify only bids the amount needed to remain competitive and never exceeds your bid cap.
How creative rotation works
Creatives are rotated as evenly as possible within each format.
While delivery across formats may vary based on optimization, creatives of the same format aim to receive the most balanced distribution possible.
How ad set edits works
Edits made to ad set level settings will apply to all formats in the ad set. For example, if you change the targeting of your ad set that has Audio, Video, and Display formats, the new targeting applies to all the formats in the ad set.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which formats should I use?
We recommend including Audio, Video, and Display creatives whenever possible. If you need help creating assets, you can use our Generative AI Ad Creation tool.
Will each format receive equal delivery?
Delivery is optimized based on factors such as available inventory, auction competitiveness, and performance. As a result, some formats may get delivered more than others.
Can I use only one format?
Yes. You can create an ad set with a single format by adding only one format to the ad set. If you'd like to include additional creatives for that format, duplicate the ad and replace the creative.
How many ads can I add per ad set?
You can add up to 20 ads per ad set.
